About Mugunzá:

The Brazilian ancestry translated into music and dance

Female collective percussion Ilú Obá de Min.
Made up exclusively by women - his name means "female hands touching the drums for King Xangô" - the group develops activities that empower women through art.
With influence of afoxé, jongo and maracatu, among other rhythms of popular folklore, the group seeks to deconstruct the Candomblé tradition in which women are forbidden to play the instruments during the ceremonial rites.

Another initiative that has emerged as a workshop of Grupo Cultural AfroReggae and turned professional, developing its own style and identity, the Ilú Obá de Min takes your african-Brazilian choreography and percussion to theaters and cultural centers since 2005, when it was created Vicar General of the slum in Rio's North Zone.
Under the artistic direction of Betho Pacheco, the group is the Brazilian ancestry and its artistic and cultural events. Even the choice of name: Makala, which in Kimbundo, speaking an African ethnic group brought to Brazil at the time of slavery, means coal.
